First Friday in The Village Returns on May 1

The Joseph N. Goff House is pleased to present "First Fridays in the Village" on May 1 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The event will be offered every first Friday of the month, during which participating Village Center businesses and organizations on and near Main Street will offer special exhibits, presentations or performances. 
Planned activities on May 1 will include the Belltown Garden Club’s family gardening event at the Center School Gazebo starting at 5:30 p.m.; Open Studio at The Space, 62 Main St.; An exhibit of nature photos by 9-year-old Nathan Rees, Old Bank Flowers, Art & Marketplace, 66 Main St.; Open Jam/Open Mic and art exhibit by Connecticut artists titled “Color Me Blue”sponsored by Hearts, Hands and Homes Community Collaborative in Partnership with The Department of Children and Families, 6 p.m., Higher Grounds Coffee Shop, 70 Main St.; A Spring/Mother’s Day craft activity, board games and face painting with the East Hampton High School Interact Club, Joseph N. Goff House Museum, 2 Barton Hill Road; Wine tasting featuring selections provided by Worldwide Wines, Center Package Store, 93 Main St.,4-6 p.m.; Free guitar string inspection, Black Cat Music, 95 Main St.; First Friday Dinner Special for Two including 2 beef curry rolls, veggie fried rice and crispy shrimp with honey glazed walnuts for $25,Po’s Rice and Spice, 81 Main St.

First Friday in the Village Continues April 3

 

The Joseph N. Goff House is pleased to present "First Fridays in the Village" on April 3 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The event will be offered every first Friday of the month, during which participating Village Center businesses and organizations on and near Main Street will offer special exhibits, presentations or performances.
Planned activities on April 3 will include: an art exhibit featuring the work of Carla Waclawski at The Space, 64 Main St.; A photography exhibit featuring the work of Joyce Fidrych at Old Bank Flowers, Art & Marketplace, 66 Main St.; A Crab Cake Dinner Special, locally made Easter Basket Sale and an Open Jam and Open Mic starting at 6 p.m. at Higher Grounds Coffee Shop, 70 Main St.; Bingo and a spring planting activity for families at the Joseph N. Goff House Museum, 2 Barton Hill Road; Wine tasting with selections provided by New England Wine at Center Package Store, 93 Main St.,5 p.m.; Paint Night at Epoch Arts, 27 Skinner St., 6 to 9 p.m., for kids in grades 6 and up who may choose from a variety of mediums to paint while listening to cool music. Po’s Rice & Spice, 97 Main St. , will offer a First Friday Dinner Special for Two -two vegetable spring rolls, Yum Yum Fish and Shrimp Fried Rice for $25.Area shops will be open for business, hope to see you there!

SEEKING SPONSORS FOR GOFF HOUSE GAZEBO MUSIC SERIES

Even though we are still digging out from winter, it is time to start thinking warm thoughts of summer.  The Joseph N. Goff House is once again asking for the support of individuals, local businesses and organizations to sponsor its Gazebo Music Series that takes place on five evenings in the summer at the Gazebo in East Hampton’s Old Village Center.

This will be the 17th summer that the Joseph N. Goff House, Inc. will put on the Gazebo Music Series,

which averages an attendance of 150 people per concert, and has become a popular annual summer 
event. Featured are a wide variety of musicians and musical genres from jazz, to rock to bluegrass.  
This year the concerts are planned for June 25th, July 2nd, (one week off for Old Home Day), July 16th,
July 23rd (The Kerry Brothers), and July 30th (Seat of Our Pants).

Sponsors are listed (by donation level) in public relations efforts and on flyers displayed around town 
and handed out at concerts. The four levels are Soprano ($150), Alto ($75), Tenor ($50), and Bass ($25).
In addition, Soprano and Alto sponsors are listed on a large banner that hangs on the gazebo during 
each concert.  Lastly, the MC acknowledges Soprano level sponsors during concert intermissions.

Goff House Board of Directors Seeks New Members

Members of the community are invited to become a member of The Joseph N. Goff House board of directors. 

The Joseph N. Goff House Museum and Cultural Center, located at 2 Barton Hill Road in the historic Village Center of East Hampton, stands as a proud testament to our community’s cultural, civic and architectural heritage. Our facilities invite and support cultural and enrichment programs aimed at adding quality and depth to community life. The facility also houses artifacts and memorabilia of Connecticut’s 84th Governor and East Hampton Native Son, William A. O’Neill, along with exhibits that celebrate East Hampton’s rich history. Each summer, through the support of generous donations from the community, the Joseph N. Goff House offers a five week Gazebo Concert Series in the Village Center and recently launched the monthly First Friday in the Village initiative, during which merchants and organizations in the Village Center host cultural events and activities for the public to enjoy. Please consider joining us in our mission to further enhance the vitality of the town’s village center, while celebrating the proud history of East Hampton. Meetings are held the second Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the Goff House Museum space. Those interested in joining the board of directors may contact Dean Markham at deanmarkham@comcast.net or 860-860-918-4400 or Debi Rotteck, debi412@att.net or 860-205-7376.
